NCLEX Key should work for every nursing student, including students who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, screen magnification, or voice control.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we fix problems when we find them. For example:
- You can answer every question type with a keyboard. That includes select all that apply, matrix, drop-down, highlight, bow-tie, ordering and drag-and-drop.
- Screen readers announce answer choices, what you selected, and your result after you check an answer.
- You don’t have to drag to answer ordering and drag-and-drop items. You can click, or use the keyboard.
- Pages can be zoomed, and they fit small screens.
- Right and wrong answers are marked in words, not only by color.
Keyboard tips
- Tab moves between controls. Space selects an answer choice.
- In a single-answer question, the arrow keys move between choices.
- In an ordering question, the up and down arrow keys move the selected step.
- For drag-and-drop, press Enter on an item, then press Enter on the box where it belongs.
- Press X on an answer choice to cross it out or bring it back.
- In the question bank, 1–6 selects a choice and F flags the item while you are working in a question.
- Esc closes the calculator, lab values and other panels.
The CAT clock is there to help you practice pacing. It does not end your exam.
