How NCLEX Quick Results works
Quick Results is the official service that lets many U.S. candidates see an unofficial pass-or-fail result about two business days after their exam, well before the official result arrives. It costs $7.95, and you are charged only if your result is actually ready when you check.
To use it, sign in to the same Pearson VUE account you used to register, open My Account, and choose Quick Results. There is no need to re-register. Because the window is counted in business days, weekends and U.S. holidays do not count, so a Friday exam usually shows up the following Tuesday, and a holiday in between pushes it back a day.
One important caveat, straight from the official site: Quick Results is unofficial and does not authorize you to practice. It tells you the likely outcome early, but it is not your license.
Which states offer Quick Results?
Nearly every U.S. board participates. Based on the official participating list, the only state that does not offer Quick Results is Delaware (Alabama now participates). Among territories, Guam, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are not on the list either.
You may see blog posts claiming California, Louisiana, Arkansas, or West Virginia do not participate, those claims are out of date. All four are on the current official list. When in doubt, the surest check is your own Pearson VUE dashboard: if Quick Results is offered for your board, it appears there.
The Pearson VUE Trick, briefly
The Pearson VUE Trick (PVT) is an unofficial workaround some candidates use to guess their result the same day. It is not endorsed by NCSBN or Pearson VUE, and it can be wrong, especially for scores near the passing standard. We explain how it works, and where it goes wrong, in our full Pearson VUE Trick guide.
Your official result
Your official pass-or-fail result and your license come only from your state Board of Nursing, usually within about six weeks of your exam. NCSBN, Pearson VUE, and the test centers cannot give you results, so there is no reason to call them. Once your board issues your license, it appears in your board's license lookup and in Nursys, the national license-verification database.
Frequently Asked Questions
How soon after the NCLEX can I see my results?
If your state board participates, you can see an unofficial pass-or-fail result about two business days after your exam through Quick Results, the official service in your Pearson VUE account. It costs $7.95, and you are only charged if your result is actually ready when you check. Your official result comes later, from your Board of Nursing, usually within about six weeks.
Do weekends count toward the two-day Quick Results window?
No. The Quick Results window is counted in business days, so weekends and U.S. holidays do not count. That means a Friday exam usually shows up the following Tuesday, and a holiday in between pushes it back a day. Timing can also run later than two business days, so confirm your dates in your Pearson VUE account.
Which states do not offer NCLEX Quick Results?
Based on the official participating list, Delaware is the only state that does not offer Quick Results (Alabama now participates), and among territories, Guam, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are not on the list. Claims that California, Louisiana, Arkansas, or West Virginia do not participate are out of date; all four are on the current official list. The surest check is your own Pearson VUE dashboard.
Is the Pearson Vue Trick accurate for NCLEX results?
The Pearson VUE Trick is an unofficial workaround some candidates use to guess their result the same day. It is not endorsed by NCSBN or Pearson VUE, and it can be wrong, especially for scores near the passing standard. Treat it as a guess, not a result, and wait for Quick Results or your official result from your Board of Nursing.
Can I call NCSBN or Pearson VUE to get my NCLEX results?
No. Your official pass-or-fail result and your license come only from your state Board of Nursing, usually within about six weeks of your exam. NCSBN, Pearson VUE, and the test centers cannot give you results, so there is no reason to call them. Once your board issues your license, it appears in your board's license lookup and in Nursys.
Does passing Quick Results mean I can start working as a nurse?
Not yet. Quick Results is unofficial and does not authorize you to practice, a caveat that comes straight from the official site. It tells you the likely outcome early, but it is not your license. Your license comes only from your state Board of Nursing, and once issued it appears in your board's license lookup and in Nursys.
